History of the AMX 10 P troop carrier
The AMX-10 P was the armored military combat, transport and support vehicle adopted by the French infantry in 1973 and built by GIAT. It was replaced in 2008 by the VBCI (Véhicule blindé de combat d'infanterie), until its complete withdrawal in 2015.
The AMX-10 P is designed as a replacement for the AMX-13 VCI, with the ability to cross wet cuts and fight in NBC environments. It has a mobility comparable to that of the AMX-30 tank, to support its deployments. It was mass-produced from 1973 onwards by the Atelier de Construction de Roanne, first for the French army, then successfully for export.
