History of VBL Ultima Panhard Arquus

The VBL is a light armored vehicle developed in the 1980s by Société de Constructions Mécaniques Panhard et Levassor, but it didn't enter service with the French army until 1990.

The VBL is designed to combine the agility of the jeep with sufficient protection against battlefield scrap.
It is a vehicle that can carry out reconnaissance or liaison missions under armor, while being protected against nuclear, radiological, bacteriological and chemical attacks.

The VBL is air-transportable, helicopter-transportable, parachute-transportable and amphibious.
There are two versions, the "short chassis" and the "long chassis", and from these two basic versions, the Panhard company has created 13 other versions, with surveillance radar, anti-aircraft, anti-tank, etc.
