History of the Leclerc UAE tank

With a century of expertise, Nexter, the French leader in land defense, is one of the most experienced tank manufacturers in the world.
The Leclerc battle tank, an essential component of the French and United Arab Emirates land forces. The model acquired by the United Arab Emirates occupies a pride of place on the Nexter stand at the IDEX 2017 exhibition. 

Since the presentation of its first prototype and the signing of the contract with the United Arab Emirates in 1993, more than 750 copies of the Leclerc tank were produced by Nexter and deployed by the French and Emirates armies. The Leclerc remains one of the best tanks in the world.

Nexter continues to invest heavily in its product range to keep Leclerc ahead in terms of operational efficiency. The Leclerc is presented on the stand with new equipment, including a remotely operated KMW turret, a new sight and a new vision system. 

Nexter is also investing and innovating by renovating and modernizing the heavy tank as part of the SCORPION program, which aims to provide the Leclerc with greater protection, better weaponry and more effective vision systems. This strategy will allow Nexter to strengthen the design and engineering capabilities of the Leclerc tank.
