History of the Sherman M4A3E2 Jumbo Tamiya base
With more than 49,000 units, the Sherman was by far the most produced tank of the Second World War. 254 M4A3E2s weighing 38.1 tonnes left the “Fisher Tank Arsenal” factory from June to August 1944. A 500 hp Ford GAA V-8 engine allowed a speed of 35 km/h.
The five tankers were effectively protected by an additional 6.3 tons of steel compared to a standard Sherman. The main armament: a 75 mm M3 cannon equipped with 104 shells was supplemented by three machine guns: two (coaxial and hull)
Browning M1919A4 of 7.62 mm with 6250 rounds and a (AA) Browning M2 of 12.7 mm (600 rounds).
In combat in Europe, this tank provided effective support for infantry as well as the escort of armored columns. Indeed, its sufficiently thick armor made it possible to deal with emergencies.
