History of the Shelter radio HQ-17A GMC base Tamiya
This unique machine, assigned to the command company of the 653rd heavy tank battalion, was deployed in Poland in June 1944, then in Italy in September 1944, and ended the war in Germany in the spring of 1945.
It was one of the battalion's "five-legged sheep", equipped with models recovered from school units. Two other well-known transformations are a Panzer IV turret mounted on a Panther D chassis, and a Flakvierling38 mounted on a first-model Bergpanther. To complete this curious battalion, the prototype Tiger I was also used.
