History of the S.WS with 15 cm Panzerwerfer 42
250 of the 825 “Schwerer Wehrmachtsschlepper” produced by Büssing-NAG and Ringhoffer-Tatra from December 1943 to March 1945 were equipped with armored cabins (16 mm maximum). This 13.5-ton machine was equipped with the 4.2-liter Maybach HL42 TRKMS 6-cylinder gasoline engine, which produced 100 hp.
Performance was 28 km/h and 300 km range.
The project to replace the armored Opel Maultier with the Nebelwerfer version of the s.WS is being considered quickly, but the low number of s.WS available prevents mass production of this version and the Opel Maultier 15 cm Panzerwerfer 42 remains in production until the end of the war.
