History of the Renault 4x4 Sherpa 3
In 2008, the Renault Trucks Defense company presented two new versions of its latest Sherpa wheeled armored vehicle. The first vehicle, the Sherpa 3A, is an armored version of the basic Sherpa 3 vehicle. The second vehicle, the Sherpa 3 HI, is a version adapted for special forces. The Sherpa 3A is the 4x4 all-terrain armored vehicle from the Sherpa range dedicated to projection and intervention units.
The Renault Trucks Defense armored range is focused on operational combat needs: tactical infantry engagements and their support, mobility of weapon systems or means of communication and observation.
The Sherpa armored vehicle is transportable by the usual means of strategic deployment. On land, the vehicles are capable of traveling over long distances of 800 to 900 km, at high speeds of 120 km/h and in complete autonomy. The compact size of the vehicles (width < 2.50 m) allows them to be deployed without difficulty in all theaters as well as in urbanized areas. The Sherpa 3A is available in “Large Volume” and “High Intensity” versions.
