History of the PPT Multipurpose Land Carrier 8x8
The family of multipurpose land carriers (PPT) aims to have a high loading potential while maintaining good mobility and offering the crew protection adapted to external operations while employing the latest communication and communication systems. command assistance. The PPT will thus ensure the following missions: logistical supplies in theaters of operation, transport or evacuation of personnel in operational condition, maintenance and evacuation of immobilized vehicles, transport of materials to support mobility, counter-mobility and to assist with emergency deployment. The PPT, which will ultimately replace the army's aging fleet of heavy goods vehicles (VTL, TRM10000 in the first place), is available in four versions:
- PPLOG: multipurpose logistics carrier equipped with loading system
- PPAV: versatile front carrier equipped with a fixed multifunction platform with or without hydraulic handling arm
- PPBG: multi-purpose engineering tipper carrier
- PPLD: heavy multi-purpose recovery carrier
The target of the program is 2,400 vehicles to which is added various equipment such as protection devices, trailers (PPLOG/R), containers, detachable logistics platforms, etc.
Description
The PPLOG, PPAV, PPBG and PPLD constitute a family of heavy goods vehicles which can be projected mainly by BPC or A400M and which can be equipped with a protection device including: an armored cabin against ballistic-mine-IED attacks, protection of the glazing against hostile stone throwing, a 7.62 mm self-defense weapon support (allowing it to accommodate the future MAG58 machine gun) with ballistic protection for the shooter and a flat rolling device following tire puncture. In total, 400 protective devices are to be acquired under the program. The PPLOG, PPAV PPBG and PPLD are predisposed to receive the PR4G radio, the SITEL information system, the DAGR or PLGR GPS, and for the protected versions, a medium-power jammer and the CMT/simulation and training means STC-CENTAUR.
