History of the Panzerjäger Nashorn 88 mm Solido base

Designed in 1942 to mount the 88mm PaK 43 on the Pz chassis. III/IV, the Nashorn was built in just under 500 units.
These anti-tank self-propelled vehicles equipped independent detachments of heavy tank destroyers attached to the Army Corps, to constitute a mobile force for flexible employment. His combat debut took place against the Soviets in the summer of 1943 with the 655th heavy tank destroyer detachment.
The Nashorn was used on the Western and Italian fronts as well as on the Eastern front.
