History of the Panzerjäger Marder II 75 mm PaK40/2 on Solido base
651 Marder IIs were produced by Famo, Man and Daimler-Benz from July 1943 to March 1944. The 10.8 tons Marder (Martre) II was powered by a 140 hp Maybach HL62TRM gasoline engine. The maximum speed was 40 km/h, the range was 190 km.
The 3 to 4 tankers were at best protected by 35 mm of steel. A 7.92 mm Rheinmetall MG34 machine gun with 600 rounds complemented the 75 mm Rheinmetall PaK 40/2 L/48 cannon supplied with 37 rounds. The PzGr anti-tank shell. 39 had an initial speed of 750 m/s and perforated 80 mm of steel at 1000 m. The maximum range was 7650 meters.
This formidable tank destroyer built with Pz. II A, C or F allowed the Wehrmacht to fight effectively against powerful Soviet armor from mid-1943.
