History of the AMX 30 B2 DT Brennus mine-clearing tank

The AMX-30 is a second generation main battle tank, which has equipped the French army for more than thirty years. In the 1990s, a reactive armor system, named Brenus or Brennus, was developed for the AMX-30B2. The AMX-30DT allows the opening of a breach and its marking in a minefield, without exposure to human life, thanks to the remote control of its functions. It is protected by “GIAT BS G2” reactive armor bricks like the Brenus and is equipped with the Mack E9 engine.

The 105 cannon is dismantled. All types of mines are treated (dispersible or buried) thanks to the complementarity of demining tools (Ramta plow, Urdan roller, DEDALE magnetic signature duplicator and a DEMETER magnetic field generator, a marker marking system Pearson). The integrated map function allows it to control and direct up to 3 remote pilot operators simultaneously. The attendants operate without direct line of sight, via video feedback from high-sensitivity cameras. The teleoperation cell is located in a specially designed VAB. The initial functions (manual piloting and mine clearance) of the vehicle remain available.
