History of the M113 Zelda Chata"p Israeli
The M113 is a troop transport vehicle adopted by the US Army in 1960. Designed and produced by the Californian firm FMC, it was the workhorse of the American motorized infantry during the Vietnam War and is still widely used in the 2000s by several armies.
Intended to accompany the M60 tank on the battlefield, the M113 can transport 11 soldiers and their equipment. Its crew includes a driver and a tank commander-machine gunner.
Entering service in 1982, the Zelda is an M-113 equipped with additional armor plates spaced apart in order to cause a premature explosion of anti-tank rockets. These plates are also perforated with thousands of small holes to save weight.
