History of the Pz.Kpfw II Ausf.L Luchs / Lynx Sd.Kfz.123
The Pz.Kpfw II Ausf.L Luchs (VK 1303) which was a reconnaissance tank produced in more than 100 copies by MAN and Daimler-Benz. This tank designed especially for reconnaissance received the designation Panzerspahwagen II (20 mm KwK 38) Luchs. It weighed nearly 13 tons and carried a crew of 4 men.
The Lynx's powertrain allowed it to reach 61 km/h on the road and have a range of 290 km. Like the VK 901, the Lynx had a torsion bar suspension with interlaced rollers. The armor was 30 mm thick at the front and 20 mm thick on the other sides. The chassis was made by MAN, the superstructure and the turret by Daimler-Benz.
