History of the Hanomag Sd.Kfz.11 late artillery tractor  

Built in 25,000 units from 1937 to 1944, mainly by the Hanomag firm, this vehicle, a true workhorse of the Wehrmacht, served on all fronts. This artillery tractor towed the 105 mm FH 18 howitzers and the 75 mm PaK 40 anti-tank guns.

As the conflict came to an end, the shortage of strategic materials became even more acute. Also, to save as much as possible, the construction of the Sd. Kfz. It was greatly simplified and wood replaced metal wherever possible. The original appearance of this artillery tractor was also singularly altered by the lengthening of the engine compartment and the rustic, wooden interior.
