History of the French light truck Citroën type 23

Between 1935 and 1969, over 120,000 Type 23 trucks were sold. A 42 hp, 1.9-liter gasoline engine ensured a top speed of 70 km/h. This twin-axle straight truck with twin rear wheels had an unladen weight of 2.02 tons and a gross vehicle weight of 3.52 tons.

Although interest in this utility vehicle on the part of the French general staff came late, over 12,300 Citroën Type 23s were delivered to the armed forces between October 1939 and May 1940. Numerically speaking, this vehicle outclassed all other equivalent equipment used under French colors. Finally, during the war years, the Type 23 was used by both Allied and German forces.
