History of the Titus 6x6 APC Nester Tatra tank
The TITUS (Tactical Infantry Transport & Utility System) is a new generation of 6x6 armored personnel carriers designed and manufactured by French defense company Nexter. The vehicle was unveiled at DSEI 2013, the International Defence & Security event in London. Thanks to its unrivalled level of modularity based on combat mission kits, operational environment kits and a wide variety of variants, Nexter TITUS can fulfil any mission from infantry transport to combat missions. The Nexter TITUS has been designed to meet the military markets of the Middle East and Asia.
TATRA TRUCKS Inc. and NEXTER SYSTEMS have agreed to strengthen their cooperation on the new TITUS, the state-of-the-art multi-role armored vehicle based on a modified TATRA TRUCKS 6x6 chassis. At DSEI 2013, the Nexter TITUS is equipped with a Nexter ARX20 remote-controlled turret located on the front left side of the upper hull. The ARX20 remote-controlled weapons station developed and built by Nexter carries the 10M621 20mm automatic cannon and fires 20x102 rounds of NATO ammunition at a rate of 750 rds / min. A 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun is mounted to the right of the main armament, and a battery of four smoke grenade dischargers is mounted at the front of the turret.
