History of the AMX 30 Au F1 GCT 155 mm Solido base

More than 400 AUF-1 self-propelled aircraft have been produced by GIAT since 1977 at the Roanne Construction Workshop. This 43.5 tonne vehicle is powered by a 720 hp Hispano-Suiza HS 110 multi-fuel engine. The maximum speed is 60 km/h, the range is 450 km.
The turret armor is designed to protect the 4 tankers from shrapnel and small caliber ammunition. The 155 mm L/39 GCT gun with automatic loader can fire a salvo of 6 shells in 45 seconds. The initial speed of the shell is 810 m/s, the range is 23.5 km. 42 shells are housed in the turret. Battery installation takes 2 minutes, release takes less than 2 minutes. A 12.7 mm machine gun is mounted on the turret.

273 AUF-1s are in service with the French army, 51 have been exported to Saudi Arabia, 85 to Iraq. This equipment brilliantly served the coalition during Desert Storm in 1991. As part of IFOR, a French AUF-1 annihilated Bosnian-Serb positions on August 23, 1995 northeast of Sarajevo by shelling them from Mount Igman.
