History of the 4x2 Harvest tractor
The M426 semi-tractors were 5 ton (4,536 kg) 4x2 semi-tractors that were used from 1944 by the United States Army. After the war, they were used in Europe, notably during the Berlin Crisis and during the Korean War. They are famous for use on the Red Ball Express from Normandy, but were also used in the China Burma India Theatre. Designed and first manufactured by International Harvester, later Kenworth and Marmon-Herrington also built them. 1,200 M425s were upgraded to M426 standards.
