GAS50886 US light tank M-24 "Chaffee"
Conversion on Solido basis

In April 1943 the US Ordnance Dept. and Cadillac started the studies to supply a successor to the M5 light tank. Over 4,000 M24 were built from March 1944 to June 1945. The efficient design of the tank granted the 4 to 5 tankers a suitable protection despite thin armour (max: 1.5"), its fire power and its mobility ranked this 18 tons light-tank as the best of the class. Two rail-mounted V8 water-cooled Cadillac 44T24 engines yielded 220 hp and 34 mph.
The Chaffee's weaponry included one M6 75 mm cannon (the one of the NA B-25G Mitchell bomber airplane) with 48 shells, two M1919A4 Browning .30 cal. (coaxial and hull) with 3,750 cartridges and one AA M2-HB Browning .50 cal. (440 rounds) on top of the turret.
The lengthy career of the successful M24 started late 1944 in Italy then went on for long decades with many nations' armies and fought during some conflicts like Korea or Indochina.
