GAS50147 French light tank Hotchkiss H-39

De 1939 à 1940, 540 chars légers modèle 39 sortirent des chaînes de montages Hotchkiss. Propulsé par un moteur Hotchkiss 1938, 6 cylindres de 120cv, les 12 tonnes du H-39 filaient à 36 km/h. Les 210 litres d'essence permettaient une autonomie, au mieux de 150 km.
Un chef de char et un conducteur prenaient place à bord, protégés par au plus 45 mm de blindage boulonné. Une mitrailleuse Chatellrault M1931 de 7,5 mm approvisionnée à 2400 coups complétait l'armement principal, le SA 18 de 37 mm (v0 : 380 m/s) avec 100 obus.
Le H-39, en dotation dans de nombreuses unités de Cuirassiers fut opposé lors du Blitzkrieg de 1940 à l'avancée ennemie. Après l'Armistice de juin 1940, l'occupant allemand recycla de nombreux exemplaires, qui reprirent du service sous de nouvelles couleurs jusqu'en 1945.

During 1939 and 1940, 540 light-tanks model 39 rolled out the Hotchkiss assembly lines. One 1938 Hotchkiss engine with 6 cylinders and yielding 120 hp allowed the H-39 and its 12 tonnes to reach a speed of 36 km/h. 210 litres of gas allowed a range of 150 km.
One commander and one driver boarded the H-39 and where shielded by a max. 45 mm thick bolted-armour. One M1931 Chatellrault 7.5 mm machine-gun with 2,400 cartridges supplemented the primary armament: one 37 mm SA 18 gun (v0: 380 m/s) with 100 shells.
On service within many armoured units, this cavalry tank has been opposed to the enemy push during the 1940 Western Blitzkieg. The German forces recycled of a sizeable number of these H-39s, that then onwards saw extensive action again, but under a new flag up to 1945.
