616 Borgward IV Ausführung A furent produits de mai 1942 à juin 1943. Un moteur essence Opel Olympia de 36 cv propulsait au mieux ce véhicule de 3,6 tonnes à 38 km/h.
Un conducteur pouvait diriger cet engin cela se faisait ensuite au moyen d'une liaison radio (portée efficace 800 à 1000 mètres) lors de la phase critique de l'approche finale. L'épaisseur maximale du blindage était de 8 mm. La charge explosive à retardement de 500 kg portée à l'avant était déposée par l'engin poseur de charge qui devait ensuite être replié promptement.
L'emploi du Sd.Kfz. 301 " Ladungslager " ou " Ladungsträger " débuta dès mai 1942 à Sébastopol et se poursuivit jusqu'à la fin du conflit en mai 1945. Cet engin était mis en œuvre par les unités " Funklenk " (radio guidage) pour détruire soit des bunkers, des emplacements d'artillerie ou des positions d'infanterie, soit pour ménager des passages dans les champs de mines.

Between May 1942 and June 1943, 616 Borgward IV Ausführung A have been produced. One 36 hp, gasoline Opel Olympia motor allowed a top speed of 38 km/h.
This single-man crew vehicle was when being sent to drop its 500 kg delayed explosives radio guided to its target then promptly removed (effective range of the radio link: 800-1,000 metres). The thickest steel plates of the Borgward type A measured 8 mm.
As of May 1942, the Sd.Kfz. 301 "Ladungslager" or "Ladungsträger" saw action in Sevastopol and then onwards until the end of the conflict. This materiel was brought into operation by the "Funklenk" units (radio guidance) to obliterate bunkers, artillery nests, troop positions, or provide a safe path trough some minefields in support of some tanks.
