GAS50008 German anti-tank gun 88 mm PaK43/41

1403 exemplaires de ce canon anti-char produit par Krupp de 1943 à 1944. Cette configuration permettait de mettre en œuvre le redoutable PaK 43 à moindre coût, sur un affût à un seul essieu. Le poids total de l'ensemble était de 4380 kg seulement.
Correctement servie, la cadence de tir de l'arme atteignait 20 à 25 coups/min. Les obus tirés les plus performants étaient les Pz.Gr. 40/43 (noyau au tungstène) à haute vitesse initiale de 1130 m/s. Ces projectiles perforaient 205 mm d'acier à 1000 m.
Le PaK 43/41 représente la solution d'urgence pour utiliser le Pak 43 88 mm anti-char, avec l'inconvénient d'un canon rendu encombrant et difficile à manœuvrer à cause d'un affût économique. Le PaK 43/41 n'en restait pas moins une arme extrêmement efficace.

In 1943 and 1944, Krupp produced 1,403 units of these anti-tank cannons. By using a single axle mount it has been made possible to despatch the dreadful PaK 43 at the lowest cost. The total weight of the cannon amounted to 4,380 kg.
The rate of fire could reach 20 to 25 rpm at best. The most lethal shells that could be fired were the hi-velocity tungsten-cored Pz.Gr. 40/43 (muzzle velocity: 1,130 m/s). These shells pierced 205 mm of steel at a range of 1,000 m.
The PaK 43/41 was an emergency solution to allow a widespread use of the 88 mm Pak 43. This set-up's drawback was a cumbersome and clumsy cannon because of the low-cost mount. Nevertheless the PaK 43/41 still remained a highly potent weapon.
