History of VB2L Turret Hornet T1 Akeron missile

In 1978, the French Army General Staff (EMAT) issued a call for tenders for the design of a wheeled armored vehicle weighing less than 3.5 tons, to be used for reconnaissance or anti-tank missions. 

Five companies (including Panhard, Renault and Lohr2) responded to the invitation to tender, and Panhard and Renault were each selected to design and manufacture three prototypes, which were tested by the French Army in 1983 and 1984.
